Yoga teacher training
A Life-Changing Experience
This is a soul-rocking, life changing opportunity to dig deep, connect, paint, play, laugh, cry and love. Understand samadhi (universal oneness) and the integration of nature and divinity by learning about medicinal plants, local ecology, permaculture, and conservation. Frolic in the waves, hike a magical rainforest, paddle majestic mangrove tunnels, unleash your inner child! Go zip-lining, surfing, whale watching and explore magnificent waterfalls on your days off!
Our training is designed to help you connect with and nurture your inner child through play, art, movement and nature. We will explore ancient teachings with dance, painting, journaling, and acro yoga. Understand how food is grown on a permaculture farm, connect barefoot to the Earth and move with intention.
Uvita, Costa Rica
A yoga paradise
Uvita is a small village on the southwest coast of Costa Rica. It is notable for being located where the mountains most closely reach the Pacific Ocean and is the closest village to Marino Ballena National Park (roughly a 40 minute walk, or 5 minute taxi ride). This tropical hamlet possesses great charm in an unspoiled and serene atmosphere. With palm trees swaying in the wind, providing shady relief from the intense Pacific sun, there is plenty of outdoor options in this tropical paradise.
Uvita is the major stomping ground of Costa Rica’s whale and dolphin species. The nation’s most iconic and oft-spotted whale, the humpback, spends more than eight months a year in these waters – the longest humpback whale season in the world!

Meet your instructors
After obtaining her certification through Gypsea Yoga School Vanessa moved on to teach yoga classes, run workshops & now facilitates through the same yoga school she learned through! Yoga couldn't have come at a better point. She chose this path because noticed she was feeling drained, tired and mentally and emotionally blocked at the young age of 15. Her background was heavily dance & weight-lifting at the time & yoga was the perfect mediator of those two extreme practices.
From postures to internal focus, she found herself little by little. Being so young, this was a terrifying yet amazing experience. After finding herself drawn back to the practice of yoga & meditation, she soon realized that she needed to share the way this practice made her feel with others. Teaching yoga was it. Vanessa primarily teaches Vinyasa, Hatha & Buti yoga but is always learning & evolving. Setting the vibe, inclusivity & fluid movement is her jam. Her primary goal is to aid in moving the outsides to move the insides. To face the things that are no longer serving & replacing those with what does. To go deep, to reflect hard. To find truth. To find SOMETHING within that is just waiting to be unleashed. Something that makes each person true to who they are & brings them to their own internal power & liberation.

Hi, I’m Courtney, an ex-gymnast, spinally fused, 18-year yogi, Ashtangi, trained in India, with a gypSEA soul whose practice draws from hatha, kundalini and vinyasa. My heart-centered approach evokes an understanding of interconnectedness through a focus on self-love, nature and seva (service). The intention being for my students to discover the light within that ignites their path to inner peace, the connection which opens the heart to universal love.
After 10 years as a competitive gymnast, lower back surgery brought my athletic ability to a halt. Looking for a way to ease the pain and regain strength and flexibility, I discovered yoga and immediately fell in love with the practice, quickly learning its transformational power over the mind and path to freedom. Embarking on this journey meant a lifelong quest for self-knowledge, love, and humility. In 2010 I volunteered in India and earned my yoga teaching certification. My time in India inspired me to establish my own NGO, Kids’ Foundation for Uniting Nations which connects and inspires kids around the world to initiate positive change through service.
